Zimbabwe to back its currency with gold

Update: The IMF urged Zimbabwe to expedite currency reforms during a recent staff visit, emphasizing a move towards a market-driven exchange rate and the removal of existing distortions.
Zimbabwe's Finance Minister announced new measures to stabilize its local currency in an online press briefing held Monday.
Zimbabwe to back its currency with hard assets such as gold to end exchange-rate instability, Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube said.
"The idea going forward is to make sure that we manage the growth of liquidity which has a high correlation to money supply growth and inflation.
The way to do that is to link the exchange rate to some hard asset such as gold," said Ncube.
He also announced a conference of African ministers that Zimbabwe will host at the end of this month.

The use of quantum encryption would theoretically prevent hackers from cracking codes and other forms of espionage, military or otherwise. Quantum computing could allow for an exponential military advantage in space.
Satellites equipped with quantum capabilities would enable offensive tactics like surveillance and reconnaissance to be done with greater speed, accuracy, and security than ever before.

Gold and Silver benefit from FED policy, inflation

Gold prices are hovering around a two-week high as of Friday, showing the biggest weekly gains in over two months as the US Federal Reserve keeps key policy rates unchanged, engendering investors optimism about commodity markets.
The Fed balance sheet is one of the drivers to the expanding money supply. The Feds monetary tools are used to keep rates low and cheap credit flowing. If the Fed keeps up the monetary stimulus, it will continue to drive inflation higher.
If the Fed were to ever try and taper, allowing longer-term rates to rise, it will put pressure on many areas of the economy, including the federal deficit.
In either case, Gold and Silver should benefit from high inflation if the Fed keeps printing or a shrinking economy if the Fed tapers.
